Adobe Flash Player Vulnerability Found |
|
Symantec has revealed another vulnerability in Adobe Flash Player.
Last month Adobe had to fix 7 critical security breaches in its Flash Player, one of which could give full access to the machine under Windows Vista SP1. The hacker who showed this bug was awarded $5000. No need to say that those vulnerabilities were followed by new ones. The details of the latest found bug are kept secret for security concerns. It is only known that the breach may cause a browser crash and execute a harmful code on a remote machine. In order to do that a user should open a specifically created SWF file on his computer.
To make the matter worse, there already are a lot of examples of the harmful code on some Web sites. According to Symantec, the vulnerability is present in the latest Adobe Flash Player installation packages with version numbers 9.0.115.0 and 9.0.124.0. It is highly probable that a vast number of Internet surfers do not even suspect how vulnerable their machine is to a sudden hacker attack.
Unfortunately, there are no ways to get rid of the vulnerability. Adobe's representatives claim they are working hard on solving this issue, but they say nothing about when the patch may appear.
Until the patch comes out there is only one advice to follow: be careful when surfing in unknown waters...
