Avast Home Registration Alert |
|
In our recently published article about free Avast! Home User Edition we have written that it is totally free for home use. It is true: you do not have to pay for using Avast! antivirus, including all the virus databases updates. However, ALWIL Software is cunning and uses a smart trick to make us believe that we must pay for the Professional Edition after the so-called "evaluation period".
Let's consider the whole process of using Avast!. You download the free Home User Version from Avast! Web site, install the software, and start using it. In 60 days you will get a red alert message saying that you should upgrade to Professional version in order to enjoy safety online further in future. On clicking the message you will see a window that urges you to go to Avast! Web site and upgrade to Professional, otherwise you will lose your machine protection.
Do not pay ALWIL for Avast! There is a small button with "Other options" description beside it. The window will expand and you will see an option to just re-register your Avast! free Home User Edition for another year. This is all you will have to do while you are using Avast!: re-register your free Avast! every year to enjoy a free antivirus program. It is clear why ALWIL uses such smart ways to trick users into spending more money than it is necessary, but it does not look fair if they state this product is free and then demand a paid upgrade.
