Yahoo Sues Lottery Scammers
Millions of Yahoo! users must already have received e-mails with subject like "Yahoo Lottery: You Won $400", and a great portion of them could not but ask Yahoo! Support if it was true. It is no surprise that Yahoo! does its best to find the cybercriminals involved in the phishing attacks.

On the 16th of May Yahoo! filed a lawsuit against scammers who tried to steal confidential information using Yahoo! name as a disguise. The criminals sent out millions of phishing mails that informed users that they had won a large sum of money in the Yahoo! lottery. It was necessary to fill out some forms for a "lucky one" to get the prize. It is said that some users lost several hundreds of dollars after sending the information to "Yahoo!".

The famous portal accuses the online criminals of breaking Federal Anti-Spam Act and the brand copyright. Sad but true, it is extremely difficult to catch the scammers, but Yahoo! hopes they will be found and brought to court. In case the criminals are caught, they will have to pay a huge fine.

By the way, MySpace social network has managed to evict its $230 mln from Sanford Wallace, the king of SPAM, but the latter did not show up in court, so, it is still unknown whether MySpace will see the money.

Please remember: if you did not play, you cannot win. And free cheese is only available in the mouse-trap.
